Utricularia appendiculata (SWZ)

Distributed throughout tropical Africa and Madagascar, this terrestrial species from peaty marshes and damp savannas. Its flowers are white to pale lilac with a long, slender spur and a tiny yellow spot at the throat. The flowers generally need some support to wrap around in order to actually flower. Some flower stems in cultivation can reach over 12" tall. Plants may or may not be flowering at the time of purchase. You will receive a 1" plug of this Utricularia.

Care for this carnivorous plant is simple. I recommend using a mix of 3:1 peat to perlite, using the tray method to keep the substrate constantly wet with water under 50 PPM TDS. I use a 14 hour photoperiod at about 250 PPFD, but you can use a natural photoperiod or anywhere from 10-16 hours. I rarely fertilize, but when I do I normally spray the leaves with 500PPM MaxSea fertilizer.
