Selaginella ludoviciana
Selaginella ludoviciana is a spikemoss native to the southeastern United States, where it grows terrestrially in shaded, moist forests, stream margins, and humus-rich slopes. It forms loose, creeping to ascending stems with clearly dimorphic leaves, the lateral leaves broad and spreading while the median leaves are much smaller and appressed, giving the shoots a flattened, fern-like appearance. The plant spreads by creeping stems and forms open colonies rather than dense mats.
As always, plants can look different with different amounts of light. The plants you receive may be a slightly different color than what is shown, either more colorful or more green depending on a variety of factors. I grow these plants in vivariums between 68-83°F and in high humidity (90%+). don't recommend growing any of my terrarium plants outside of terrariums.
Please note this plant will ship bare root via USPS Priority Mail. Heat packs are not automatically included. I offer a 72 and 96 hour heat pack as additions. Please make sure to add one of these options before completing your purchase to be eligible for live arrival guarantee if your temperatures are below 50°F.
Any photos of plants are representative of what a mature plant/leaves/flower, etc. may look like for reference only. You will receive several 2-3" cuttings of this plant.
