Drosera prolifera
One of the four (previously three) Queensland sisters, Drosera prolifera is endemic to Queensland, Australia and found about 150km north of where Drosera adelae grows. This species has a narrow range of the eastern side of Thornton's Peak near Cape Tribulation ranging from 0-1300m elevation, often found in canyons. This species can tolerate more heat than Drosera schizandra and is a perfect terrarium plant. I grow it in several of my Geosesarma sp. vivariums. This species does best as an understory plant, not getting significant direct sun, and can burn easier than most sundews from strong foliar feeding.
As always, plants can look different with different amounts of light. The plants you receive may be a slightly different color than what is shown, either more colorful or more green depending on a variety of factors. Care for this carnivorous plant is simple. I recommend using a mix of 1:1 peat to perlite, using the tray method to keep the substrate constantly wet with water under 50 PPM TDS. I use a 14 hour photoperiod at about 250 PPFD, but you can use a natural photoperiod or anywhere from 10-16 hours. I normally spray the leaves with 1,000-2,500PPM MaxSea fertilizer weekly, or as often as I remember.
Please note this plant will ship potted via USPS Priority Mail. Heat packs are not automatically included. I offer a 72 and 96 hour heat pack as additions. Please make sure to add one of these options before completing your purchase to be eligible for live arrival guarantee if your day time temperatures are below 50°F.
