Drosera grantsaui (BRA)
Drosera grantsaui is endemic to the Brazilian highlands, in central and eastern Brazil. It grows in sandstone seepages amongst grasses and Sphagnum in peaty, wet areas higher in organic matter. This species is a smaller one. It does not form a wide rosette but forms a (relatively) tall stem over time, getting up to 6-8" tall after a couple of years, with support. These are small to medium sized plants; you can expect the plants to be roughly 1-2" in height. Taller plants break easily in transit without considerable support, or being shipped bare root, so I ship smaller plants.
Care for this carnivorous plant is simple. I recommend using a mix of 1:1 long fiber sphagnum moss to perlite, using the tray method to keep the substrate constantly wet with water under 50 PPM TDS. I use a 14 hour photoperiod at about 250 PPFD, but you can use a natural photoperiod or anywhere from 10-16 hours. I normally spray the leaves with 1,000-2,500PPM MaxSea fertilizer weekly, or as often as I remember. This plant will prefer cool intermediate to highland temperatures.
Please note this plant will ship potted via USPS Priority Mail. Heat packs are not automatically included. I offer a 72 and 96 hour heat pack as additions. Please make sure to add one of these options before completing your purchase to be eligible for live arrival guarantee if your day time temperatures are below 50°F.
