Drosera citrina is a small, rosetted pygmy sundew from Western Australia, distinguished by its bright lemon-yellow flowers and compact, circular rosettes of glistening leaves. It thrives in seasonally wet, sandy habitats where it forms tight colonies during the winter growing season. This is one of the easiest pygmy sundews to cultivate, making it a beginner-friendly species within Drosera sect. Bryastrum.

The nature of the gemmae lends these to grow beautifully in small colonies. I recommend sowing in taller pots as pygmy Drosera have tiny, thin, fragile roots and when disturbed have a tendency to die. As a result, repotting is generally not recommended unless you are slip-potting them. Gemmae are identical clones of the parent plants. They are not like seeds, so do not expect genetic diversity if purchasing gemmae.

This offer includes a packet of 15 gemmae per order. Each gemmae will form one individual plant. Gemmae are wrapped in a wet paper towel and placed into a into a small plastic baggie to maintain humidity. Some of them may sprout in transit, this is normal. Gemmae are tiny ranging between 0.25 and 3mm. I recommend using a small pair of tweezers or a toothpick to place them gently on top of a mixture of 1:1 peat moss and quartz sand. New plantlets typically sprout within 3-10 days. Do not let them dry out until the new plants are established. Higher humidity can help prevent them from drying out. Please be careful when opening the packets as the gemmae are extremely small (see photo(s)) and will often stick to your fingers.

Gemmae are shipped in a padded, tracked envelope without a heat pack. Please add a heat pack if your night time temperatures are below 40F. I cannot guarantee live arrival of gemmae if your temperatures are too low and a heat pack was not included. I do not offer untracked shipping for gemmae at this time.
