Drosera "Andromeda"
A horticultural hybrid, between Drosera schizandra and Drosera prolifera, created by Kamil Pasek, displays leaves larger and less reniform leaves, that turn a reddish orange under intense light. Their flowers are sterile, but are displayed frequently. From the ends of these flowers you will find false vivipary. A form of propagation where a new plant is formed from the end of the flower, which can be removed and planted in its own pot. This happens around 90% of the time with the flower of this hybrid, in my experience, making it, probably, the highest rate of false vivipary of any carnivorous plant species!
As always, plants can look different with different amounts of light. The plants you receive may be a slightly different color than what is shown, either more colorful or more green depending on a variety of factors. Care for this carnivorous plant is simple. I recommend using a mix of 1:1 peat to perlite, using the tray method to keep the substrate constantly wet with water under 50 PPM TDS. I use a 14 hour photoperiod at about 250 PPFD, but you can use a natural photoperiod or anywhere from 10-16 hours. I normally spray the leaves with 1,000-2,500PPM MaxSea fertilizer weekly, or as often as I remember.
Please note this plant will ship potted via USPS Priority Mail. Heat packs are not automatically included. I offer a 72 and 96 hour heat pack as additions. Please make sure to add one of these options before completing your purchase to be eligible for live arrival guarantee if your day time temperatures are below 50°F.
