Drosera stelliflora gemmae
Drosera stelliflora is a perennial, rosetted pygmy sundew endemic to the South West of Western Australia, specifically localized to the Scott River and Northcliffe regions. It forms a compact, ground-hugging rosette that inhabits low-lying, winter-wet sandy peat or clay-sand flats within open heathlands. Like other pygmy species, it survives the summer dormancy by producing a protective central bud of silvery stipules and propagates asexually via gemmae in the winter. This plant can be distinguished from other pygmy sundews for its star-like white flowers on short, numerous scapes, after which it is named.
This offer includes a packet of 12 gemmae per order. Each gemmae will form one individual plant. Gemmae are wrapped in a wet paper towel and placed into a into a small plastic baggie to maintain humidity. Some of them may sprout in transit, this is normal. Gemmae are tiny ranging between 0.25 and 3mm. I recommend using a small pair of tweezers or a toothpick to place them gently on top of a mixture of 1:1 peat moss and quartz sand. New plantlets typically sprout within 3-10 days. Do not let them dry out until the new plants are established. Higher humidity can help prevent them from drying out. Please be careful when opening the packets as the gemmae are extremely small (see photo(s)) and will often stick to your fingers.
Gemmae are shipped in a padded, tracked envelope without a heat pack, or in a box if a heat pack is needed. Please add a heat pack if your night time temperatures are below 40F. I cannot guarantee live arrival of gemmae if your temperatures are too low and a heat pack was not included. I do not offer untracked shipping for gemmae at this time.
