Drosera solaris is a diminutive rosetted perennial sundew endemic to eastern Brazil and Guyana, particularly the campos rupestres of Minas Gerais and Bahia, where it grows in wet quartzitic sands and rocky seepages at higher elevations. It forms compact, stemless rosettes of narrow green to reddish leaves and is notable for its bright yellow to orange flowers, a rare flower color within the genus and a key feature distinguishing it from related Brazilian rosetted species. This is a difficult species in cultivation. Fully grown this plant barely measures one inch in diameter. You will receive a small plant 0.5-1" in diameter.

As always, plants can look different with different amounts of light. The plants you receive may be a slightly different color than what is shown, either more colorful or more green depending on a variety of factors. Plants are between 1-1.5" in diameter. Care for this carnivorous plant is simple. I recommend using a mix of 1:1 long fiber sphagnum moss to perlite, using the tray method to keep the substrate constantly wet with water under 50 PPM TDS. I use a 14 hour photoperiod at about 250 PPFD, but you can use a natural photoperiod or anywhere from 10-16 hours. I normally spray the leaves with 1,000-2,500PPM MaxSea fertilizer weekly, or as often as I remember.

Please note this plant will ship potted via USPS Priority Mail. Heat packs are not automatically included. I offer a 72 and 96 hour heat pack as additions. Please make sure to add one of these options before completing your purchase to be eligible for live arrival guarantee if your day time temperatures are below 45°F.
