Drosera allantostigma gemmae
Drosera allantostigma is a perennial pygmy sundew endemic to the South West of Western Australia, specifically found in the area between Perth and Jurien Bay. It inhabits seasonally wet sandy soils and the margins of swamps, often growing in association with Melaleuca and Banksia woodlands. It is distinguished by its minute, compact rosettes (usually less than 1.5 cm) and its relatively large, pure white flowers that lack the dark center often seen in other pygmy species. Its most unique morphological feature is the sausage-shaped (allantoideidès), red, and reniform stigmas, which is where the name comes from, the Greek word allantoeidès. It was most recently assessed as extinct in the wild.
This offer includes a packet of 12 gemmae per order. Each gemmae will form one individual plant. Gemmae are wrapped in a wet paper towel and placed into a into a small plastic baggie to maintain humidity. Some of them may sprout in transit, this is normal. Gemmae are tiny ranging between 0.25 and 3mm. I recommend using a small pair of tweezers or a toothpick to place them gently on top of a mixture of 1:1 peat moss and quartz sand. New plantlets typically sprout within 3-10 days. Do not let them dry out until the new plants are established. Higher humidity can help prevent them from drying out. Please be careful when opening the packets as the gemmae are extremely small (see photo(s)) and will often stick to your fingers.
Gemmae are shipped in a padded, tracked envelope without a heat pack, or in a box if a heat pack is needed. Please add a heat pack if your night time temperatures are below 40F. I cannot guarantee live arrival of gemmae if your temperatures are too low and a heat pack was not included. I do not offer untracked shipping for gemmae at this time.
